Movies Everyone Should See
According to Me

I think a lot can be learned from good movies. Lessons of life, love, decency, emotion, happiness, tolerance. A good movie should uplift us, inspire us to better ourselves and our environs. I've compiled a short list of my favorite movies, films that I feel do just that in a variety of ways. I will continue to add to this list in the future as I watch more movies and learn more about life.

Life Lessons:
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
To Kill a Mockingbird - Gregory Peck's portrayal of Atticus Finch is the mold from which all Fathers should be drawn.
The Power of One
The Philadelphia Story - "The time to make up your mind about people is never."
Le Huitieme Jour (The Eighth Day)
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town - The film that made me fall in love with Gary Cooper.
Dead Poets Society
It's a Wonderful Life
Radio Flyer
The Little Prince
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - A beautiful lesson in love.

Comedies:
Bringing Up Baby
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Seven Year Itch
Harvey - And this is what made me fall for Jimmy Stewart...
The Trouble With Harry
It Happened One Night
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Producers
Operation Petticoat
How to Marry a Millionaire

The Art of Cinematography and Story Telling:
Sunset Boulevard - Easily one of the best films ever made.
All About Eve - Listen to the dialogue; it's hard to find anything anywhere close to that talent.
The Secret Garden
Casablanca
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
The Quiet Room
Edward Scissorhands

Legends:
Gilda - The film that immortalized Rita Hayworth.

Musicals:
Guys and Dolls
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
An American in Paris
Daddy Long Legs
Top Hat
Robin and the Seven Hoods  - You know a musical's meant for a guy when one whole number is dedicated to the thrill of shooting.

Thrills:
Rear Window
Wait Until Dark
Charade
The Lady Vanishes
Marnie

Love:
Sabrina - The original - no cheating!
The Princess Bride
Roman Holiday
Holiday  - With Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn - sometimes difficult to find. I'll send you a copy. :)
Breakfast at Tiffany's
