HTML: Color Names

HTML recognizes colors by a series of six digit combinations. For example, black is referred to as "#000000", and white is "#ffffff". This is where combatibility plays a major part. Not a single monitor will project a color exactle the same as another monitor. There will always be slight variations because of monitor settings. It's best to avoid colors with complex combinations, however, there can be exceptions to the rule.

To add colors to your website, go to a graphics program like Paint Shop Pro. There should be an option where it will tell you a six digit HTML code for any color you select. For example, if you click on the color swatches on the right-hand menu of Paint Shop Pro, the color wheel will pop up. Just above the "Okay" button, you'll see a six digit number; that's the HTML code.
